Conference Programme

The conference programme will comprise a mixture of formal thematic presentations, special sessions, a guided walking tour on the reconstruction of L’Aquila, as well as anzz social tour and an optional conference dinner. All designed in a way to encourage social interactions and informal discussions and exploring future potentials. During the guided walking tour of city centre participants will visit completed, ongoing and non-commenced reconstruction works including public and private examples, public spaces, schools and churches. Following the visits, a round table discussion on schools in L’Aquila will bring academic participants together with policymakers, local activists and stakeholders to look at strategies for recovery and resilience. A public photographic exhibition will present a reinterpretation of the city territory from the perspective of the periphery. During the conference we will also celebrate the publication of the peer-reviewed book based on the Silk Cities 2017.
